My love for plants and all things green has deep roots. Thanks to my mother and her parents, I grew up with a heightened appreciation for the outdoors, including gardening and especially birds and their habitats.
When I started attending the University of Oregon, I thought about studying architecture. By chance, I took some classes in the Landscape Architecture department. The content fascinated me, and I soon changed my major.
As an undergraduate, I also studied art with a focus on sculpture, and I worked at a golf course and played competitive golf. Even today, these experiences inform my work and help me create and build outdoor spaces as a professional. I still love drawing, but I really find building a garden and shaping the earth, such as placing stones and installing plants, is the most rewarding.
After graduating in 1976 with a degree in Landscape Architecture, I started Changing Landscapes, Inc. in 1977 with a business partner. Over time, my partner pursued another profession. I continued the company that has helped bring people’s unique vision to life for more than 35 years.
With this background, I have the experience, technical skills, and vast plant knowledge required to communicate with architects, designers, and property owners to successfully implement designs and maintain properties as they mature.
My commitment and appreciation for all things green extends to our services. Changing Landscapes is an earth-friendly company that offers landscaping nonchemical practice alternatives. Those alternatives include organic fertilizers and weed control, eco lawns, weather stations for water timers, on-site runoff water management, and more. Our motto is keep Oregon green and growing.
I have enjoyed creating garden spaces all these years and look forward to many more. If you have ideas for your garden or need suggestions for your landscape, give me a call or drop me an email. I look forward to talking with you.
